Unfortunately, in the past few weeks the Board was made aware of two incidents of theft. The first incident involved the theft of the contents of a package left at a door step by Amazon. The second involved the theft of two bicycles from a garage where the garage door was open while the residents were home. While the first theft was of small value in comparison, the theft of two racing bicycles were a significantly large value.  Regardless of the value, any theft is one to many.

Since Fairfield is a gated community where access is limited by gate codes for vehicles and a gate key for the pedestrian gate, it is imperative that codes and keys remain secure.

While there are many actions each homeowner should take to minimize the chance of theft, the following actions that can be taken:

  • Obtain a new gate access code for yourself and a new vendor code.  These codes can be obtained by contacting HBS, Stephanie Powell at 520-389-2034 or email at stephanie@hbscommunity.com.  Experience shows over time access codes can become widely known.  If you have any doubt about the security of your code do not hesitate to request a new code.
  • To the extent practicable keep your garage door closed.
  • If you are expecting a delivery and will not be home reschedule or ask a neighbor to get the delivery from your porch and keep it for you.
  • Contact the Town of Oro Valley police department if you observe suspicious activity.
